“The man who doesn’t relax and hoot a few hoots voluntarily, now and then, is in great danger of hooting hoots and standing on his head for the edification of the pathologist and trained nurse, a little later on. ” ~Elbert Hubbard
Hoot, hoot (and picture me standing on my head…)
It has been a crazy couple of months, and a bit of an unsettled time for me personally. I think mid-life crisis is an apt description (minus the affair with the hot 25 year old… maybe that was the part I missed but totally needed? hmmmm….JK!) Now that summer is around the corner, I realize that as I am slowing things down for awhile, I haven’t even visited my poor little blog in sometime (which is sad to me, because I actually really enjoy blogging…)
So a post about a few business-y type things to end off the school year…(which is also not helping my morose spirit – my oldest is writing her very last high school exam EVER as I am writing this post…and that means I officially have a university student living in the house. Proud of her, proud of our family, sad things are moving forward so quickly). I will also be blogging more this summer, some sessions, some personal creative projects I have given myself for the time off – a ton of creative recharging long overdue!
okay, stop whining Julie and get back to the topic at hand…sheesh…
VACATION: I will be taking an extended family vacation this summer. I need it and its the right time for it. I am booking sessions for September now anyway, so I have fit in as much as I can in the summer session-wise, as well as booking a nice break with my family. I have a couple more commitments in early July and then I am off for much of the rest of summer. I will be checking in on email and only occasionally between July 15- August 13 (as that is the “official” vacation time).
GARAGE SALE: I have been in a purging mode (again, midlife crisis…could I BE more cliche…le sigh…). Not only have I started emptying out the garage, laundry room and various other storage spaces in my home, I have also realized that I have a WAY too much stuff collected for my business over the years. Seriously, I have three closets/storage areas JUST for all my photography crap (not counting the piles and boxes in my office), and if I am being honest, I rarely use most of it. SO…I have sorted it all and have turned three cluttered spaces into one very organized space (my criteria was that I needed to be able to get things out without having to move other things out of the way first…and I have succeeded! ~insert patting self on back right here~).
I will be taking photographs of each item and posting the goodies online for sale over the next few weeks, so if you are a photographer OR a parent with a child that loves dressup, stay tuned! (everything I am selling is stuff I LOVE as I did a prop purge a few years back and only kept the good stuff and have only bought stuff I LOVE in the time since…BUT I really need to simplify, so I am going down to the basics. Props, antique carriage, dressup clothes and accessories, backdrops, a ring flash and various other little odds and ends are part of the mix…all good things, I promise!).
Photo blog=need a photo…here is just one from something I am working on at the moment. more to come!
