Its the new year and time for a new round of blog carousel posts. If you are new to this concept, let me enlighten you (and if you know the drill…skip to the next paragraph…go on, we will wait…okay). The way a blog carousel works is a group of bloggers create a post on a particular theme, and then at the end of their post, they link to the next blogger in the carousel. You go all the way around, looking at some awesome posts, til you get back to the beginning. Its great fun! (just don’t overeat the cotton candy, okay?!?). Being a photographer is a natural for a blog carousel, and if you love photography, you should definitely check out all of the entries.
This month our theme is Alternative Cameras. This means anything other than your normal camera. For me, that would mean digging out some film and my film camera – but you know, since I generally leave these projects to the last minute, there just wasn’t going to be time for film processing (like in the olden days we had to actually WAIT awhile before viewing our photographs…weird huh!) That left me with either my daughters Nintendo DSi3d , which does take some pretty funky photos, or my iphone… Iphone wins hands down because I have at least 15 photography apps on there and I need to make them work, AND cause the funky warped photos from the dsi were not quite what I was going for…this time anyway (maybe at my next portrait session though).
As a secondary theme, I decided to go with the idea of “music makers” and I had a ton of fun looking around the house for things that we had in our home that made and played music. Some of these things were old, some newer. All awesome and well loved. I really love music – it is a part of every single day and I wish I had more time to learn even more (someday for sure, I will master the piano <—- one of my bucket lists goals revealed right there).
The first set contains – three cds (remember those?? haha, they are almost antiques!) of my lovely sister-in-laws music, a harmonica that my husband has owned since he was a kid (and he is definitely somewhere over the age of 40…so you know, it is also an antique…just kidding honey!), and two images of my son and his electric guitar.
Next set contains my husbands wonderful acoustic guitar (purchased in the early 1980s), some Beatles music for guitar (purchased with the guitar) and our piano keyboard.
Finally, my flute from the early 1980′s (its in alittle bit of a state of disrepair right now though…it would love a trip to the music spa…maybe soon), and an ipod. It was just one that was hanging out by the computer already, one of many our family owns and uses every day. In fact, we no longer own any albums or cds (except the ones above and a bunch of Christmas ones that I keep forgetting to sell and they end up back in the Christmas boxes). All of our music is now portable and I LOVE that I always have all my music on hand to listen to, whatever my mood (which my family would probably say changes frequently!).
