Its time for the monthly photography challenge that I have been doing with a group of very VERY talented women in the children and family photography industry from around the world (yes, the world!! We have some Aussies in our group too and we are so glad to have them!). This months challenge kinda kicked my butt though. We were to use the theme of “framed” in our image…and I quickly realized that framing is not really a compositional tool that I use very often (okay, not really “quickly” since I ALSO left this project to the very last minute…again…LOL).
But I do have an image that I could put into this theme if I get alittle creative on my definition of framed. This image was from a session last fall and it was IMMEDIATELY one of those images that will always stand out as a favourite for me. This little one was done, at the end of our session and ready to go, and she started sucking her little thumb (there is the love of thumbsucking again). I asked her mom and dad to come in close and I “framed” her beautiful face and hand with her parents. To me, she looks loved, comfortable and perfectly placed between her parents adoring gaze…yes, that is exactly how a child should be framed.

To have a look at the rest of the “framed” images in our blog carousel, be sure to visit the blog of my lovely friend Heather Rivlin to check out her entry in our blog carousel challenge Toronto Newborn Baby and Child photographer and then follow the next link at the end of her contribution.
